The 8th edition of the World Water Forum will take place in Brasilia this Friday (23rd). The event brings together leaders from more than 170 countries, including scientists, governors, parliamentarians, judges and researchers.

Although the first edition took place in 1997 in Marrakesh, Morocco, this is the first time that a country in the Southern Hemisphere has hosted the event. The director of the PCO department of MCI Group, company responsible for the organization, Rodrigo Cordeiro, talks about the Forum to the plenary.

The objective of the Forum is to make the subject (water) take care of the agenda of those who decide and that its management always favors the population. That the universalization of access to water and sanitation finally takes place.

Soon on the first day of the event, the Brazilian government presented projects for the preservation of tributaries and aid to agriculture. One of them is the Conservative Water Project, an initiative that aims to preserve 700 river sources.

In addition to state studies and projects, the Forum also demonstrates state-of-the-art applications, technologies and programs used in sustainable water management.
